A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum

Brisbane Arts Theatre

4th November - 23rd December

The Tony Award-winning musical, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum – from a book written by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart – was Stephen Sondheim’s first Broadway show. Inspired by traditional farce theatre from ancient Rome, it tells the bawdy story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his master win the attentions of a ‘girl next door’.

In this hilarious slapstick comedy; puns, mistaken identities and lashings of innuendo accelerate the pace leaving audiences breathless, sometimes with laughter and sometimes simply catching up on the vaudevillian action!

“If I’ve told you once, I’ve told you a hundred times. Do not fan the girls when they are wet! But you’ll never learn, you’ll be a eunuch all your life” Lycus, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum.
