Queensland Poetry Festival

Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts

23rd August - 26th August

Do you believe in the healing power of words? This year’s Queensland Poetry Festival – Australia’s premier poetry and spoken word event – explores the expression of inner worlds through poetry and story.

This year’s program features everything from readings, panels, workshops and book launches to live music, installations, performances, a zine fair and more. Festival highlights include the QPF Literary Cabaret, the 2018 Queensland Poetry Awards and the Australian Poetry Slam Queensland Final.

Headlining the stellar line-up of guests from Queensland, interstate and abroad is 2018 Arts Queensland Poet-inresidence Yona Harvey, award-winning African-American poet and Marvel’s Black Panther contributing writer, and 2018 Indigenous Poet-in-Residence Alison Whittaker, a Gomeroi poet and law scholar.

Queensland Poetry Festival Inc (QPF) Is Supported By The Queensland Government Through Arts Queensland, The Department Of Local Government, Racing And Multicultural Affairs, Brisbane City Council
