What Rhymes With Cars and Girls

Brisbane Powerhouse

25th October - 4th November

Tim Rogers’ iconic solo album What Rhymes With Cars and Girls comes to life in this feel-good musical love story. Performed with a live band led by Rogers, this intimate musical jewel sees two lovers brought together by the stars and a pizza delivery gone weird. It’s a raw and complex urban romance
– a balm for the hardest of hearts and solace for anyone who has ever been in love.

Melbourne Theatre Company debuted What Rhymes With Cars and Girls in 2015–16, years after the album was released. Rogers wrote the album
– his first solo effort – from a windowless flat in Melbourne and its nuances struck a nerve. Playwright Aidan Fennessy has threaded these beautiful songs and raw lyrics into a stunning new tale of contemporary love that transcends the class divide.

For the show’s upcoming two-week season, the original cast has reassembled to perform this evocative homegrown work for Brisbane audiences.
