SWELL Sculpture Festival

Be part of Queensland’s leading sculpture festival.

At SWELL, you will experience works of art by local, national and international artists along the Gold Coast's Currumbin Beach. The collection of unique and inspiring sculptures promises to captivate with thought-provoking messages, tactile constructions and intricate detail and, enormity as they create striking silhouettes along the shoreline.

Share in the storytelling with artists’ talks, a series of interview-style chats with select exhibiting artists to give visitors a unique opportunity to meet the maker. Artists will share their experiences building their sculpture and explore the meaning with personal insights.

Art lovers of all levels will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of workshops throughout the exhibition.

FIGURATIVE MASTERCLASS

Learn from the master with renowned artist and exhibitor Phillip Piperides, who will share his extensive knowledge and experience in figurative sculpting and bronze casting.

ART WORKSHOPS

Artist Rebecca Cunningham will lead a captivating Life Drawing Workshop, held on the beach amongst the sculptures while award-winning artist Seabastion Toast will host enchanting Plein Air Painting, encouraging visitors to interpret the works against the outdoor elements.

KIDS' WORKSHOPS

Artist Dion Parker will host the ‘Every Dog Has Its Clay’ workshop to teach kids expressive sculpting creating a stylised clay dog sculpture.
