World Science Festival Brisbane

21st March - 25th March

This March, Brisbane will become a bustling hub of science, incredible conversations, extraordinary discoveries and seriously good fun. Get ready to join the world’s thought leaders in celebrating the contribution science makes to our very existence as World Science Festival Brisbane returns for its third year.

Leading scientists, communicators and performers will delve into what makes us human, and try to answer the immortal question of how we can all live better for longer. With a range of free and ticketed events with something to suit everyone’s interests, the 2018 Festival features five days of spectacular, innovative and hands-on science – all designed to feed curious minds and challenge our views of what it means to be human.

Crowd favourites include the return of our loveable turtle hatchlings at Queensland Museum, fascinating taxidermy presentations, inspiring talks, films, workshops and Street Science. Hear from Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, world-renowned physicist Professor Brian Greene and pioneers of science and former Australians of the Year, Professor Fiona Wood and Professor Alan Mackay-Sim.

Looking for some science after hours? The Festival Lab returns with Brain Food Breakfast to get you thinking and night time sessions covering everything from hackers, spies and gamers to when science fiction becomes fact, and what happens to us when we dream.

Ground-breaking discoveries will be examined, experiments will be demonstrated and knowledge will be shared. Follow your curiosity at World Science Festival!
